George Panter – Tool Room Apprenticeship Case Study

Growing up I always thought I'd go to university, but when it came to it, it just didn't make sense for me. I'm the sort of person who likes getting their hands dirty and learning practically has always worked better for me than through a book. Engineering was my passion, and I wanted to see where it could take me.

When I started my apprenticeship, it was about learning real skills. I am a doer and wanted to get involved as quickly as possible. Gripple was brilliant at supporting me, giving me the opportunities and the confidence to apply what I was learning, without a fear of failure. The apprenticeship offered a real variety and armed me with a range of skills that have helped me as my career has progressed. Learning a trade first-hand from people who had been doing it for years could not have prepared me better.

Apprenticeships are all about nurturing careers, and that's exactly what Gripple offers. I saw a future here, and I still do today. There is a reason so many apprentices stick around after their courses are complete. People are valued, and the opportunities for progression are fantastic. We are all team players and work hard for each other, and the rewards are there for all to see. If you're thinking about applying – do it. You won't regret it.
