Technical Engineer

Gripple is now looking to recruit a technical engineer to join our large in-house technical services team, which performs a crucial function within the overall UK sales team. The role

Based at our Norfolk Bridge Works in Sheffield, day to day duties will include the following:

Producing drawings, designs and project proposals:

  • Customer arrangement drawings using 2D CAD
  • Installation designs for UK construction projects
  • Specifying Gripple products
  • Basic design calculations
  • Preparing technical proposals for UK construction projects
  • Production drawings for ‘special’ product

Report writing:

  • Pull test report writing based on on-site testing
  • Site visit reports
  • Installation design reports

Dealing with technical enquiries:

  • Telephone based technical enquiries
  • Advising customers on the application of Gripple products
  • Working on own initiative to support the sales effort
  • Become an expert on Gripple product applications
  • Support colleagues within external sales department
  • Being willing to learn and take on new challenges

Working hours 

Mon - Fri 8.30am - 5.00pm (with flexibility within office hours of 7.00am-7.00pm Monday-Friday).

Who you are?

The successful applicant should have the ambition to become an expert in Gripple products and applications and have the desire to learn new skills within an ambitious team. To be considered for this exciting position, you must hold a further education STEM qualification: degree level, ONC, HNC, HND, A level qualification or equivalent will be considered. In addition, you must:

  • have the confidence to liaise with customers regarding installation projects
  • possess excellent written English and overall communication skills
  • have experience in the use of 2D CAD
  • be able to demonstrate a methodical and focused approach
  • be attentive to detail and able to work with a high level of accuracy
  • be numerate and able to carry out basic design calculations
  • be computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • have the ability to work under pressure and remain focused at all times
  • have a full UK driver’s licence, as some travel will be required

Experience in the construction industry, producing/working with technical drawings and in BIM/Revit, Bluebeam and other technical programmes would be an advantage, however in-depth training will be provided.
