I am passionate about promoting the value of manufacturing and the career potential to others, particularly young people.
Kyle Raffo
Having left Hinde House School in Sheffield aged 16 with a passion for manufacturing and engineering, I joined Gripple in 2007 as its first shop floor apprentice, specialising in metal processing and completed the apprenticeship in two years. I later moved to a production operative role and became passionate about process improvement, machine performance and continuous improvement.
When Gripple acquired its first moulding machines, I volunteered to be a lead operator and subsequently did a further, four year apprenticeship, gaining a level three diploma, and became a team leader at the age of 24.
I am now managing significant growth in injection moulding activities both in terms of the number of machines and direct reports and the next stage of my development is to hopefully become a site leader. I am passionate about promoting the value of manufacturing and the career potential to others, particularly young people, and am therefore thrilled to have two apprentices in the team.
My long term ambition, with Gripple’s support, is to run all of our injection moulding activities as a separate business within the GLIDE group of businesses. I am extremely proud to have been nominated and shortlisted in the Young Manufacturer of the Year category at this year’s MX Awards.
