Gripple arrives at Manchester Airport

Touching down at Terminal 1

The overhaul of the flagship terminal of one the countries busiest airports took two years to complete and cost over £50 million, with the creation of one of the UK’s largest air-side shopping and catering facilities.

Throughout the development, a unique solution was required to deal with the problem of planes flying close to the terminal building. The unsecured ducting on the external roof needed a resolution to restrain it that was fully approved and tested, and Gripple was on hand to provide the answer.

Using the existing foundations of the roof structure, Gripple Lockable Kits were used to secure the rectangular ducting, preventing any form of dynamic movement. Furthermore, they provided a lightweight solution which was easy to transport and store without any Health & Safety concerns. Our exclusive roof-bracing method meant we were once again first choice, with the Project Manager remarking how we “provided an easy solution to a difficult problem”.

Additionally, Gripple hangers were used within the terminal building across a range of containment applications. Gripple products are regularly used in airport refurbishments and new builds, as they’re quick to install and have the advantage of being aesthetically minimalistic when it comes to exposed areas.
